Taking a closer look at research and execution broker lists
MiFID II unbundling requirements have put a spotlight on the value buy-side firms are receiving from their brokers, which has resulted in the institutional investing community to take a close quantitative and qualitative look at their broker lists, both from a research and execution perspective.
Visible Alpha partnered with Instinet and WBR Insights to survey 100 executive leaders across Europe to find out more about the challenges they are facing and the innovative solutions they are implementing. Here are a few interesting results:
95% of respondents said they have plans to change their executing broker list
59% of respondents said managing research costs and extracting value and insights from providers was a top challenge
On average, respondents indicated they allocating a higher percentage of their research budget to independent research over mid-tier and bulge bracket
28% of respondents expect automation, such as machine learning and AI, to be the most disruptive technology in the next few years
